Michelle Sterley - Head Veterinary Assistant
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work with animals. Somehow, though, after graduation I ended up in banking. After about 8 years of that I realized it was finally time to pursue my dream of a career with animals. I started to work at Safe Harbor in July of 2006. I have never been happier. I love the animals as well as the owners here. They all have become part of my extended family. Besides being an "aunt" to them, I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and 5 miniature horses.
My husband, son, who is 8, and I are members of the Miniature Horse Club, where I am the secretary. We love showing in the summer, it is something that we enjoy as a whole family.
Marcia Stephens - Veterinary Assistant
I am a vet assistant at Safe Harbor Animal Hospital. My husband and I have four daughters ranging in age from 8 to 17 years. We also share our home with a Bernese Mountain dog named Holly, a beagle named Sadie, three cats - Jack, Runtler and Jaxon, two rats and one gerbil.
In my spare time I volunteer and foster cats for Vicky's Pet Connection.
At a very young age my parents instilled an unconditional love and a deep compassion for all animals; it's a gift I now share with my own children, clients and the many homeless cats and dogs I care for.
Renee Weaver - Veterinary Assistant
I am married to Jack and have two wonderful children - Daniel, 19, and Serena, 13. Serena is in middle school and Daniel is leaving home to work for the state of Nevada through AmeriCorp. We have two parakeets, Holly and Princeton. They are so fun to watch because they are so busy.
Prior to working at Safe Harbor, I have had 14 years experience in the medical profession caring for the elderly. When I moved to Grand Rapids, I decided to try another field and that brought me to Safe Harbor. The people here are so special to me. They have helped me make the change and we are such a close group, I love working with these well trained and caring professionals. Although I have been at Safe Harbor only a short time, I feel they have been my friends for years and each day I have an exciting and new opportunity as I assist in the care of our patients.
I believe God has blessed my family so much, myself in particular with the ability that I have to care for all of His creation, great and small.
Tracy Snedeker - Veterinary Assistant
At a young age I wanted a career in veterinary medicine because I love animals. That's why I'm happy to be back in school studying to become a licensed veterinary technician. Working at Safe Harbor Animal Hospital, I find it's fun meeting the pets and their owners and I really enjoy providing care to each animal that enters our doors. My husband, two teenage boys, young daughter and my two dogs (Eve and Nestle) look forward to seeing me each day after caring for animals.
